--Investigating microclimates --- This works
best on a sunny day.
Each classroom has a weather station. If you can borrow
two, then you can set up four--
(1) on the top of the roof (already there), (2) deep
shade of the woods, (3) parking lot, (4) grass field

Climate and Latitude
Latitude
is the major factor that affects climate.
Other factors include elevation, nearness to
water, and the direction of prevailing winds. Latitude determines big
differences in average
temperature.
The
Latitude and Temperature Activity
engages students
in
looking at average temperatures over the past ten days for three
locations of the eastern
United States.
These are: Miami, FL; Raleigh, NC, and Schenectady,
NY.
World Climates, Climatic Change, and
Global Warming
Currently the 6th grade science classes study this in
depth.
